Too much wine and whisky followed by 2am bed and 6:30am rise to the gym made for head nodding Kel zzzzzzing in the cardiovascular research proceedings of the conference.

Went to a conference in Stirling yesterday and today. Last night was a special Burns Supper which on the whole was FAB! A brilliant celidh band, some poetry (beautiful listening to a true Scot recite Burns... swoon) and some excellent strapping lads in kilts who whisked me onto the dance floor and threw me about the room, which we gals just love ;)

HOWEVER... prior to all the merriment, the digestion of my haggis was severely impaired by a certain singer and my consequent uncontrollable laughter.

I'm not just talking about a bit of a giggle either. I'm talking head and shoulders bouncing up and down, tears rolling down my cheeks, reddened face and sore stomach muscles type laughter.

OK, so this woman... let's call her Rose (cos that's her name) stands up all dressed in her tartan splendor. She excuses her husky voice from a cold and stated that she was more likely to sound like Rod Stewart than her normal 'opera trained' voice. Well... I ain't no Rod Stewart fan, but to compare Rose's singing with Rod was a slur on Rod's good name. The only similarity I could possibly make out between them was bad blonde hair.

Seriously folks... she was SOOOO awful, so out of tune I can not begin to describe it to you. Worse... she was totally serious... but I could not keep myself together and neither could the other gals at my table. We were all wetting ourselves. I'd just about compose myself and then I'd look over at another table and they were all heads down, shoulders struggling to stay still, bouncing up and down... then I'd be off again. I was struggling for breath... Christ, it was so funny, I haven't laughed like that for a long long time. It was brilliant.

Didn't phase her one iota either! She kept coming back for the uncalled for encores... so she'd set me off again.... oh, my aching tummy muscles ;)

Cheers Kel,

Think I'll leave hiring equipment til later - we could always take some whittling tools and make our own. I have a fried onion stuck in my ear but fortunately it's finely chopped.

Ben

Geeeez... did that time fly by! Back in drizzly olde Edinburgh. But I'm not sad about it. I've had a warm and wonderful time in Adelaide which has made me appreciate how fab it truly is all the more! The markets, the beaches, the generally happy and friendly people and their quirky language, and the overall, hard to beat quality of life... ahhhh. I'm not done with it yet... but I'm not ready to settle for it yet either.

How does one sum up a month back 'home', but a month on holiday from 'home'?! Essentially, I caught up with and realised what fantastic and special people in my life live in Adelaide: notabley my parents (of course) and family; Lil and the gal pals; even my ex boyfriends, Shaun and Rob, are pretty top blokes it has to be said! Adam would you like to be included here in the ex section or in the general run of the mill good mates back home statement? (any way, there you are on my blog as promised ;)

Speaking of exes, Mr. Banks paid an extended visit to the family abode in Adelaide and we managed to totally confuse ourselves emotionally yet again. Happily we managed to enjoy each others company in doing so.

There were some notable absences, importantly, my Godmother Helen. And some notable additions with particular thanks to my cousins on both sides of the family who are doing the procreating on my behalf.

I also managed to scedaddle out of the city on the odd occasion to surf with Dr. Matt, water ski with the Auricht Family and pay an overnight visit to the wild and wonderful Coorong and the town of Robe. Met a colourful hitch hiker on the way to Kingston by the name of 'Dan' who stated his father didn't understand his hitch-hiking life because his Dad was very old school... yeh, Dan didn't join the bikey gang nor take over his Dad's speed dealing business... what a disappointment Dan must be for his father!???

So my love to Adelaide and the 'SA Great' people who dwell in and around her. I'll be seeing you again in the not oh so distant future.
